Just over two hour drive from Calais in the Picardy region of France sits the majestic Etang 5, which boasts 3km of beautifully landscaped margins and is situated in 150 acres of safe and secure idillic grounds.

It is a true specimens hunters destination, back in November 2007 one of the largest carp in the world was caught here at 81lb, and there are plenty of other biggies to fish for.

With fish stocks that include at least four carp, mirrors and commons over 70lb, eight over 66lb, and more than eighteen over 62lb, with an increadable amount coming through every year. 

The average weight of the carp in Etang 5 is a ridiculous 42lb and as each season passes this figure is rising.

When everything goes right at Etang 5, it really can make dreams come true, with Some anglers recording spectacular catches, with over 100 carp in a week.

The best result was from swims 22 - 23, where two anglers landed 140 carp with eight over 28kg, another angler caught 10 x 50lb+ carp, and another that caught 2 x 60lb+ and one of 70lb, all in a mind blowing weeks fishing, and  holidays i am shore they will never forget. A few anglers have even managed to land a 40+, a 50+ and a 60 pounder.

That is why etang 5 is the ultimate big fish water, and one of maybe only three lakes in the whole or France, that is home to 80lb+ carp.   

Other residents of the lake include grass carp to 55lb+, and sturgeon over 70lb, so when your alarms scream of at this amazing water who knows what you could be into next.

The lake was excavated in the late-60's and then transformed into a fishery in the mid-70's. The average depths are around 10-12ft and dropping to 24ft at it's deepest.

Swims 20-30 on the north and northeast side of the lake are the shallower swims, with depths between 5-8ft dropping to 10-12ft at about 100-150 metres.

The south and southwest side of the lake, between swims 1-19 is the deeper side , with some swims ( 12-13, 15 18-19) quickly dropping to 17-20ft and then back up to 12-14ft.The two bays, one of which is about 3ft deep and the other between 6-7ft deep, are where the fish normally group up before spawning.

               

 Etang 5 is ideal for those anglers wanting to make the step up from smaller waters, or for those already enjoying the challenge of a medium sized lake.

Which includes home collection within our pick up area, all required permits and licences, help and advise 24/7, free tuitoring if required, and supermarket runs every other day.

Drive and survive is available at:

 £325.00 per person per week

Trips run from Saturday to Saturday.

Booking will be confirmed upon receipt of  £125 deposit.

Balance payable in full, 8 weeks prior to your trip.

We recommend that you obtain travel insurance plus E111 forms, both of which are available from the Post Office.

Please note that’s deposits are non-refundable. Returned/bounced cheques are charged at £25 to cover bank costs.
